The Saami Council announces a temporary project position

We are looking for a project assistant to take responsibility for a new project called "Gender talks in Sápmi." The goal of the project is to promote a societal debate in Sápmi about gender equality, and to work dedicatedly on the topic through, for example, discussion forums and lectures. The project will also contribute to a better knowledge base about measures for increased gender equality in Sápmi, and research needs around gender equality. The position requires familiarity with the Saami community.

An all-Saami perspective is a fundamental prerequisite that permeates all of Saami Council's activities. This also includes cooperation with other indigenous peoples. This demands the employees to work broadly.

  • No absolute requirements, but experience in project work is an advantage.

  • Saami language skills are emphasized, and the applicant must also master one of the Nordic main languages as well as English.

  • Great emphasis is placed on the ability to work independently and goal-oriented. In addition, professional qualifications and cooperation and communication skills are emphasized, including written presentation skills.

  • The position is a full-time position. An early start is desired in the engagement, which will last until 31.10.2025. Applicants from the Swedish, Finnish, or Norwegian side of Sápmi are welcome to apply. Salary and workplace by agreement.

Questions about the position can be answered by the Saami Council's Secretary-General Áile Jávo, phone +47 950 25 926.

Applications with attachments should be sent to the Saami Council at saamicouncil@saamicouncil.net by 20.11.2023.
