Arranging the first Dieđavahkku - Sámi Science Week summer 2025
The Saami Council and Sámi Allaskuvla are happy to announce the first Dieđavahkku - Sámi Science Week, which will be held next summer, 10.06.-13.06.2025, in Guovdageaidnu, on the Norwegian side of Sápmi.
Rune Fjellheim, project leader for Dieđavahkku.
Dieđavahkku will gather Sámi researchers from the whole of Sápmi to engaging days, filled with events on topics ranging from technology to funding to engagement, and to building cross-border networks.
- “There has been a growing investment in Sámi research amongst research institutions, but there is a lack of opportunities for Sámi researchers to meet and cooperate across different fields, institutions, and national borders. With Dieđavahkku, we will fill this gap”, says Rune Fjellheim, senior advisor at the Saami Council and project leader for Dieđavahkku.
Dieđavahkku will be an opportunity to strengthen the academic cooperation within the Sámi community, by building cross-border networks, and increasing the awareness of existing research as well as mapping future research needs.
- “The core of Dieđavahkku is a commitment to cooperation, transcending disciplines and national borders to ensure inclusion and diversity, and to give a platform to voices from different backgrounds and career stages. We wish to especially facilitate for students and young researchers, to motivate increased recruitment into academia and the growing Sámi research community.”
More information regarding deadlines for proposals and sessions will be announced this autumn.

Dieđavahkku will be arranged during the first Sámi Arena in Guovdageaidnu 2025.
