The Saami Council announces a full-time position as project manager
The Saami Council is seeking a project manager for the project: Climate Impacts on Terrestrial Ecosystems (CITE). The primary objective of the project is to strengthen the conditions for reindeer herding's adaptation to seasonal and annual changes, by developing a tool that can contribute to a deeper understanding of weather and climate, as well as climate impacts in reindeer’s grazing areas. The project is in its second phase, having conducted a pilot study based on the co-production of knowledge between reindeer herders and researchers. Detailed reports of the work are available.

Ensure progress in the project and carry out activities according to the adopted project plan. This also involves coordinating and interacting with other participants in the project, such as the established test group of reindeer herders and the research group affiliated with the project.

For the position, we want someone with good knowledge of reindeer herding, preferably with experience in project work and/or education from college/university at least at a bachelor or equivalent level.

The position requires good competence in English, especially writing skills. Sami language skills are emphasized, and the applicant must also master one of the Nordic main languages.

Great emphasis is placed on the ability to work independently and goal-oriented, and that one is proactive and service-minded. Additionally, knowledge of the Saami society, especially reindeer herding, professional qualifications, and cooperation and communication skills are emphasized, including written presentation skills. Experience from research or the use of traditional knowledge in connection with knowledge production is an advantage.

The project is part of the Sami Council's comprehensive work, and the project manager will join a team working on Arctic and environmental matters.
An early start is desired for the engagement, which will last until 31.12.2024.
