In this intervention at UNPFII 2018, the Saami Council raised concerns about the weakening protection of Indigenous Peoples’ collective rights to lands, territories and resources, referring in particular to the Finnmark Act, the Unjárga/Nesseby case before the Supreme Court of Norway, and the impact of wind power projects such as Storheia in Fosen and Gaelpie/Kalvvatnan on Sámi reindeer herding, land rights and free, prior and informed consent
