The Cultural Heritage Week in Rovaniemi 27. - 31. October 2008

The 19th Saami Conference will be held in Rovaniemi in October 2008. Theme of the conference is "Cultural Heritage and Cultural Identity".

The highest decision making body of the Saami Council is the Saami Conference, which has been held every fourth year since 1953. Delegations to the conference are nominated by the member organisation of Saami Council. Altogether, there are 65 delegates all over Sápmi, the Saamiland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Russia.

International expert seminar on Indigenous Cultural Heritage is been arranged at the same week with 19th Saami Confence in Rovaniemi. The 19th Saami Confenrence and Expert Seminar together with cultural events are called The Cultural Heritage Week.
